Here’s The Real Font Used on the True Religion Logo

True Religion Brand Jeans, more commonly known as True Religion, is an American clothing company founded in April 2002 by Kym Gold and Jeff Lubell. The brand was famous for the usage of premium denim in designing its apparel.

True Religion garnered immense popularity within its first decade in operation. In 2009, the brand was available in approximately 900 boutiques and specialty stores across 50 countries.

However, True Religion’s fortunes began to decline after a decade of near-runaway success. In 2017, the company filed for bankruptcy and began closing down some of its stores. True Religion was eventually acquired on May 10, 2013, by TowerBrook Capital Partners.

True Religion Font

The True Religion logo is made up of the brand’s full name – True Religion Brand Jeans – written in ALL-CAPS. This lettering is split into two parts. The first part comprises the words “TRUE RELIGION” and is set above the second part – “BRAND JEANS.” The entire lettering is set in black.

The highlight is on the first part of the brand’s full name. The words “TRUE RELIGION” are bolder and sport a white outline, whereas the words “BRAND JEANS” are less prominent and do not feature any outlines.

However, while True Religion’s brand name features words that differ in some specs, the entire lettering seems to have been modeled based on the Neo Contact Regular typeface.

Neo Contact Regular is a regular variant of Neo Contact, a fancy slab-serif typeface designed by American Type Founders in about 1955 and primarily published by Linotype GmbH. Although the True Religion logo was redesigned once, the brand maintained the Neo Contact Regular typeface for both its old and new logo.

Neo Contact is classified as an old west, slab-serif, display font. It’s one of the few typefaces that suits both print media and digital display designs. That makes it excellent for using on a plethora of design projects.

Examples of projects you can apply Neo Contact to include apparel branding, homeware designs, campaign posters, flyers, brochures, business cards, and invitation cards. It would look good on billboard ads, PowerPoint Presentations, and digital infographics, too. You can also make Neo Contact the primary font on your blogs, e-commerce websites, or social media platforms.

Neo Contact is presently available only in two styles. But the two weights come with a slew of nifty features, including UPPERCASE and lowercase characters, basic punctuations, basic numerals, currency signs, and many more. There are also family package options.

Apart from the True Religion brand logo, Neo Contact is also used on the packaging of Marlboro cigarettes.
