What Font Is Used On Toys “R” Us Posters?

Toys “R” Us is an American toy, apparel, and baby product retailer founded in April 1948 by Charles Lazarus. The company was once considered a leading seller of toy and baby products. However, stiff competition caused a massive dip in sales over the years.

In 2017, Toys “R” Us filed for bankruptcy and began closing its stores. But thanks to months of restructuring, operations finally resumed starting in 2022.

About the Toys “R” Us Font

Toys “R” Us uses a custom typeface on its logo and posters. Suffice it to say that the company engaged the services of professional graphic designers in creating its logo and font.

However, several typefaces have since been developed based on the original font appearing on Toys “R” Us products and branding materials. One such font is simply called Toys R Us, named after the toy and apparel brand.

Toys R Us is a stylish, cartoon typeface developed by professional type designer DLEDeviant and published in 2007. It’s important to note that this font was created barely five years ago whereas the Toys “R” Us brand has been in operation for well over 70 years. Therefore, it’s evident that the font was modeled after the original typeface used on the toy company’s logo and not the other way around.

Toys R Us is predominantly available in the TrueType (TTF) file format, although OpenType (OTF) formats are also available. The typeface contains over 120 characters. It supports both UPPERCASE and lowercase letters, as well as numbers and punctuation marks. You also get to experiment with a slew of special symbols, including mathematical operators and currency signs.

Another noteworthy feature of the Toys R Us font is its bold texture and thick strokes. The font’s sheer boldness makes it incredibly legible whether used on display or body text, while the strokes help add an extra layer of elegance to your designs.

You can consider Toys R Us as the primary font on your company logo, business cards, gift cards, apparel branding, and a host of other design projects. The font’s cartoonish appearance further makes it suitable for use on the covers of comic books, films, and video games.

Toys R Us is also considered a browser-friendly typeface. That’s partly because it supports multiple languages (at least 50) and partly because it looks great on digital displays. As a digital display font, you can use Toys R Us for a variety of digital design projects, including meme and text messaging, app and web titling, social media posting, PowerPoint presentations, etc..

Toys R Us is available in two different styles, namely Toys R Us Bold and Toys R Us Bold Italic. The Toys “R” Us products appear to utilize the bold italic version.
