Metallica started its journey in making a name in the music scene on October 28, 1981. It began when Lars Ulrich and James Hetfield got together through Ulrich’s LA Recycler newspaper ad.
Their ascent to becoming one of the biggest-selling acts in American history started with their first recorded demo ‘No Life ‘Til Leather’, which became an instant hit with the tape-trading circuit. This, along with their well-received performances in the Bay Area, put them under the radar of metal merchants, resulting in a series of albums that started from 1983 up to the present.
They’ve gone through several changes in their quest for the best musical and work chemistry. Metallica currently includes drummer Lars Ulrich, rhythm guitarist and vocalist James Hetfield, guitarist Kirk Hammett and, bassist Robert Trujillo. The band has sold over 100 albums all over the globe and has won 9 Grammy Awards under their name.
