In 1994, Walt Disney Pictures released their 32nd animated feature film, The Lion King. The story centers on the young lion prince, Simba.
The Pride of Pride Rock
Simba was supposed to succeed his father, Mufasa, as King of the Pride Lands when tragedy struck. Simba was made to believe he was the cause of the king’s death and fled into exile. He lived a carefree life in the company of Timon the meerkat and Pumbaa the warthog, until Simba was given a reminder of his duties when his childhood friend Nala came to pick him out of decadence.
The Lion King’s success on the big screen led to several sequels and spin-offs released on various media. This led to further expansion in the form of stories of Simba’s family and other denizens of Pride Rock. A CGI remake of the original Lion King film was released in 2019.
