Halo is a first-person shooter (FPS) video game series first released in 2001. The games have received critical acclaim, reinforced by the millions of copies sold worldwide. This resulted in a number of spin-offs and even non-FPS titles based on the Halo universe.
One of the reasons why Halo became so famous was because it was the first game of the time to have a fun co-op (multiplayer) gameplay along with a deep storyline.
The Halo Storyline
343 Industries currently manages this American military science fiction media franchise while XBox Game Studios publishes Halo’s content. Bungie originally developed the franchise and its early main installments. A member of the Spartans, a super soldier unit, takes center stage in the story’s culmination.
The original trilogy tells the tale of an interstellar war between humanity and The Covenant – an alliance of aliens. The name ‘Halo’ is an array of colossal super weapons created by an ancient race as a last resort in containing a galaxy-spanning parasitic menace.
Halo has become more than a video game franchise and managed to expand to other media. Bestseller novels, graphic novels, and comic books placed Halo’s legacy as a household name in sci-fi. Movies, animation, and short series allowed Halo to make its way to non-gamers (and those unfamiliar with the franchise).
The Halo Legacy
Those who like Halo, but are not big into digital media, can opt to play it as a tabletop game. More media using the Halo logo are released to the markets, ensuring the franchise’s lasting legacy.
