What Font Is The Captain Morgan Logo Designed In?

Captain Morgan is a brand name of flavored rums manufactured in Jamaica by British alcohol conglomerate, Diageo.

The brand is named after Sir Henry Morgan, a famous 17th century Welsh privateer of the Caribbean. It’s made up of Captain Morgan Black, Captain Morgan Spiced, Captain Morgan Black Spiced Rum, and Captain Morgan White Spiced Rum.

Captain Morgan rums are classified as smooth and medium-bodied, with subtle caramel and vanilla essence. The rums are created using yeast, molasses, mash, and water. Molasses account for the products’ golden color and delectable taste.

Like most alcoholic liquors, Captain Morgan gets better with age. The rums are aged in oak barrels for up to 12 months after distillation. Diageo commonly uses darker bottles while aging Captain Morgan drinks. The darker color produces overall positive effects on the products’ color and flavor.

Captain Morgan uses a font known as Thaleia on its official logo title. This font appears on all Captain Morgan products as well as related branding materials.

Thaleia is a fancy retro typeface designed and primarily published by Harold’s Fonts. The font is currently available only in the regular weight. However, it supports a wide range of characters, including lowercase letters, UPPERCASE letters, numbers, basic punctuation marks, and other special elements, such as $, %, &, #, *, and @.

Overall, Thaleia contains 200 glyphs, with 1000 units per em. The font has a height of 1600, with its maximum advance height and maximum advance width standing at 1600 and 2677, respectively.

Thaleia’s designer also seems to have taken care of legibility by allowing some kerning. What’s more, this font is remarkably scalable. Higher scalability means that Thaleia will look stunning on differently-sized print surfaces.

When it comes to application, there’s virtually no limit to the nature of design projects that can utilize the Thaleia font. You can use this typeface when designing your product labels, magazine and newspaper covers, book covers, and advertisement flyers.

The font would also work well on digital design projects, ranging from website and app design to blogs, e-commerce platforms, billboards, and PowerPoint Presentations.
