Budweiser is an American-style pale lager that’s produced by Anheuser-Busch, which is part of AB InBev. The lager was introduced in 1876 by Carl Conrad & Co. of St. Louis, Missouri.
The name “Budweiser” is believed to have been inspired after German-born Adolphus Busch made a trip to a Bohemian region called Budweis. Apparently, people in Budweis have been brewing beer known as Budweiser from time immemorial. Inspired by the name and the local’s passion for beer making, Busch thought it wise to name the lager ‘Budweiser.’
Budweiser has grown over the years to become the valuable global brand we know of today. The lager is currently considered one of the most popular and commercially successful beer products in the United States.
But despite that monumental achievement, the “Budweiser” brand name remains a subject of dispute. For instance, there’s an unrelated pale lager beer going by the same name, originating in České Budějovice, Czech Republic. The beer is produced by Budějovický Budvar brewery, also known as the Budweiser Budvar Company.
The trademark disputes between Anheuser-Busch and Budějovický Budvar have not been resolved conclusively. However, the companies have struck a compromise that sees either of them granted the exclusive use of the “Budweiser” name in selected markets. The Anheuser-Busch lager is available in more than 80 countries, including markets where it doesn’t own exclusive rights to the “Budweiser” name.
Aside from the regular Budweiser lager, Anheuser-Busch brews a number of other beers. Notable ones include Bud Ice, Bud Light, and Bud Light lime. They also produce alcohol-free beer. The company’s first alcohol-free beer, called Bud Zero, was introduced in July 2020. Bud Zero has ZERO alcohol content, ZERO sugars, and only 50 calories.
The font type used in the Budweiser logo is known as the Brewmaster Font, created by Michael Hagemann.
Brewmaster’s name resonates with Budweiser’s industry. So, it’s logical to credit Budweiser with the popularity of this font. In fact, it’s reported that the font was created based on Budweiser’s actual logo design.
While designing Brewmaster, Hageman also took into consideration Budweiser’s slogan. A crown sits on top of the official Budweiser logo, which appears to reinforce the brand’s slogan – The King of all bears.
Where to Download the Brewmaster Font
There are numerous places where you can download the Brewmaster Font. Examples include from The Fonts Magazine, Dafont Free, and Fonts Geek. Brewmaster is typically available in a single regular format, along with .OTF and .TTF file formats.
Most websites recommend downloading the font strictly for personal use. Remember, this font is specifically associated with Budweiser and the brand name is subject of numerous trademark wars. You don’t want to add your company to this long list of unresolved trademark disputes.
There may be other requirements before you can download the Brewmaster font. It all depends on the specific website you’re downloading it from. For instance, some platforms will need the font to possess a specific number of glyphs and units before it can be available for download.
