Funny-looking characters moving around in a sci-fi themed space has never been so popular. This online social deduction game pits players against each other in a battle of wits and deception.
Released for iOS and Android platforms on June 2018, and on Windows in November the same year, Among Us is a cross-platform play that skyrocketed in Twitch and eventually found itself on the mobile phones of folks from all ages.
Is Among Us a New Game?
While Among Us has been around since 2018, it started to be popular in mid-2020. Game studio Innersloth ported the game for the Nintendo Switch in 2020, and releases for XBOX One and Xbox Series X and Series S in 2021.
COVID-19 proved to be a great opportunity, as the game became a good platform for people to socialize despite distancing restrictions. It gained a fanbase in Mexico, Brazil, and South Korea. It continued to enjoy its popularity, with many named streamers carrying the title in the form of guides and play sessions.
The game hit the 100-million downloads milestone in September 2020, and the player count peaked at 1.5 million active. This new fad brought forth a lot of fan-created content such as songs, art, and memes.
It also brought the word ‘sus’ (suspicious or suspect) into modern-day use. Programmer Forest Willard expressed that fan-made content ‘really is the best part’ in making the game.

The actual logo is almost certainly custom-made just for the game. Nevertheless, thanks to its current fame, many type designers took it upon themselves to create similar lettering.
For those who want to re-create only the logo, you can get the Among Us vector font for free from Font Meme. For the font set, try ‘In your face, Joffrey!’ by Reema Chhabra or Mix Giants Font by Mikko Sumulong, both free for personal use. For the imposter and crewmate screen titles, Riciery Leal designed VCR OSD Mono that looks just like it.
